Why Rated People?
Who are we?
We're a community that connects you with thousands of tradespeople and customers which makes it easier for you to find the right person for the job. From building a dog kennel to building a mansion, we've got tradespeople to cater for all your home improvement projects.
Why can't I just pick a tradesperson from a list?
Rated People can give you so much more! We put you in touch with people who want to do your job which saves you time on the phone. You can check out their ratings as well which will make picking the best a lot easier.
How do Rated People find the best person for the job?
Give a detailed summary when you post your job and we'll match the right tradespeople to your job. If we need extra info, we'll send an email to help us to help you.
Jobs
How do I join?
Post your job and give us your email, name, address and a contact number. It only takes a moment and we'll start searching for tradespeople who are interested in quoting straight away.
How does it work?
There are just 3 easy steps:
- 1. Give a thorough description when you post your job
- 2. Choose the best tradesperson for the work based on their skills and their ratings
- 3. Afterwards, rate them
What does it cost?
It's totally free. Tradespeople do pay us a small fee to receive details for jobs they choose, but it's a much cheaper alternative for them as they spend less money getting themselves known.
What if I change my mind about my job?
Please tell us as soon as you can so we can stop contacting tradespeople. It doesn't take a minute, simply login, open up the job in your account and click on 'withdraw job'.
You've asked me to update my job. What do I need to do?
If after a couple of days of searching without any success, we ask that you update your job to improve your chances of getting a tradesperson to quote on it. When this happens we'll send you an email which links through to your job post. Make the changes to the areas we've highlighted and re-submit the job. You can also make updates to your job through your 'Jobs' page in 'My account'. Simply log in and make the updates to your job. We aim to get a tradesperson in contact with you 24 hrs after you update your job.
Tradespeople
How do you go for the best tradespeople?
Choose your tradespeople based on their ratings. Don't worry if they don't have ratings this may be because they are new to the network. If your tradesperson doesn't have any ratings, ask to speak to some of their previous customers directly.
What if you can't find a tradesperson in my area?
We have over 20,000 tradespeople on our books so we're normally really good at finding the right tradesperson for you, wherever you are in the UK. The only thing that might make it harder for us to find you someone is the tradesperson's availability.

Quotes and texts
How many quotes do I get?
1, 2 or 3, you decide. We'll always try and get you the right number. If one tradesperson is busy, we'll find others to quote.
How long does it take to get quotes?
We try and get you the number of tradespeople you want quoting on your job within two days. If it's taking longer, we'll do our best to get you the right person for the job as quick as possible.
What if I have enough quotes for a job?
If you don't have enough quotes, please let us know as soon as you can so we can stop searching for tradespeople. It doesn't take a minute, simply login, open up the job in your account and click on 'no more quotes'.
How do I know when a tradesperson wants to quote?
We'll let you know straightaway in an email. If you want we'll even text you too. You'll get contact details and easy access to your account and their rating from the email.
How do I stop getting texts?
If you give us your mobile phone number when filling out your details, we'll automatically text you with tradespeople details. If you don't want to receive texts from us then simply go back and opt-out of the 'please send text messages' option and we'll just send you the info you need via email.
Ratings
How do ratings work?
Ratings help to build good relationships and levels of trust. For more info on how ratings work, check out our Ratings Guide
Why should I rate my tradesperson?
Leaving a rating means that you're able to tell the tradesperson and others, how they were to work with and how well they did the job. We aim to create a balanced view of things by allowing your tradesperson to respond and leave a rating for you too.
How do I rate?
Once you've accepted a quote from a tradesperson, you'll see a 'Rate my tradesperson' button. Click on that and then:
Rate your tradesperson based on 3 separate categories:
- Quality - how good was the work they did?
- Value - were they value for money?
- Reliability - how reliable were they?
After you've given them a rating, you can elaborate on it in the comments box.
